The typical Trullo is located in the province of Ceglie Messapica, more in particular after the Contrada Pisciacalze in Abicca Ermanna. The position is at the top of a hill and it permits a large view on the valley. The surrounding land is characterized by olive gropes, vineyards, pine groves and oaks together as different fruit trees. The land of the property starts around the edifice and then it develops in a series of terracing downhill in front of the service area. The Trullo is easily reachable with asphalted routes apart from the private boulevard. From a public asphalted road, the entrance is through a gate that gives access to a private road with other two properties. After around 120 meters there is the entrance to the Trullo’s land delimitated by an old solid dry stone wall.

The construction is composed by the absolutely original and not tempered Trullo. On the left side there are two compartments that are perfectly integrated with the trullo’s context. These are made with old techniques with dry stones with vaults and convex ceilings. On the right hand side there are two courts originally designed for animals. Behind there is the “caseddone”, the typical conic structure, and, with a particular canalization system, a cistern. The cistern is particularly useful for the collection of raining water to be reused throughout the year. The complex reflects the most traditional architectural and historical style of Puglia.

The Trullo and the service area are not located in the center of the land property and are far from the boundaries. The total surface of the land is equal to 7671 square meters, whether the house has up to 123 square meters livable. The edifice is located after the entrance uphill path which is flanked by high pines. This path ends in the service area in front of the habitation.

The Trullo and the rest of the construction, even if they are beautiful and harmonic, are abandoned. As such there is a need of a strengthening and reinforcement work together with a plant design for cables and pipes. However, it is important to notice the value of the original material used and in particular of the “chiancarelle” that covers the cone.

The surface of the construction can be easily enlarged, by increasing the number of rooms and the square footage of the house. The logistic of the land gives the possibility to create a natural car park in the right side of the entrance path underneath a series of high pines that provides the necessary shade. Moreover, the large surface of the land gives the opportunity to build a large swimming pool with a small pool house.

The surrounding land and the terracing were originally cultivated as an olive grope. In the current situation the typical wild plants of the “macchia mediterranea” covered part of the centuries-old olive trees and the land. As such an intervention in the land is also required. Moreover, the sea is easily reached in around half hour by car.

The electricity can be easily implemented as the neighbors are already connected to the grid. In regards to water there is an interesting opportunity to be connected to the region aqueduct, that goes through the land, that would grant drinkable water from the tap. Otherwise it is possible to adapt the original cistern for water domestic use.

In the surrounding area there are several bed & breakfast, a few restaurant and an event location.

Beyond the treatable buying price there is also the optional possibility of a house and land restoration service. In fact, the restoration and the enlargement of the Trullo together with the installation of the swimming pool can be directly commissioned to the architect owner in accordance to the project desires of the client.
